Tree beating
With the use of beating trays, pooters and magnifying glasses pupils collect and identify invertebrates that dwell in the trees at Pelham. This activity is ideal for focussing on the adaptations of invertebrates to habitats and the variety of life in trees and hedgerows.

Naming species from their catch with keys and colour identification charts children tally count their catch and can also use their records to investigate food chains, lifecycles and adaptations.
