On one side of the lawn is a line of very old horse
chestnuts, which mark the original carriage-way to Daws Hall. One suffered
badly in the great storm of 1987, but the rest of them have survived remarkably
well.
On
the opposite side on the lawn, bordering the road, are a row of pollarded
lime trees. The majority of trees in this area have been planted since 1966
and they include many exotic species. In the spring much of the area is
carpeted with daffodils.
